At the beginning of 2011 we linked up with Barclays Armed Forces Community Investment Project (BAFCIP) so that together we can significantly change the future prospects of wounded, injured and sick soldiers leaving their chosen career in the Army.

One of the priority areas of work at present and going forward for The Soldiers’ Charity is around the charity’s involvement with delivering part of the Army Recovery Capability (ARC) project. We are delighted to have Barclays on board to help us deliver the section of this project which supports improving the employability of soldiers leaving the Army for civilian life who are unable to continue active service.

The funding we have received from Barclays is supporting soldiers across the UK who are leaving the Army for a civilian career to have the best possible start by providing funding for training in their chosen careers.

”Barclays is delighted to be working in partnership with The Soldiers’ Charity to deliver this programme. It aligns well with Barclays commitment to support job creation and economic growth and is making a significant difference to the lives of people coming out of the Armed Forces”. – Debbie Phillips, Associate Director Global Community Investment Barclays Group Corporate Affairs

Barclaycard John O'Groats to Land's End (JOGLE) challenge

As part of Barclays’ wider support of the Army Recovery Capability this year, an intrepid team of 200 employees from the Barclaycard Global Acceptance Payments team recently completed this six week, 1,259 mile challenge to raise funds for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

The team have raised a staggering £102,244 to date in support of Individual Recovery Plans which address the needs of wounded, injured or sick servicemen and women to ensure that they have a tailored recovery plan that integrates their needs on a variety of levels. ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is committing £3m over three years in direct support of Individual Recovery Plans.

Sincere thanks to the JOGLE team for this tremendous achievement!
