Sharwood’s Britain’s number 1 Indian sauce brand has come on board to support The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry.

Sharwood’s have launched a limited edition hot curry called Bhut Jolokia which is currently being sold in Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrison’s. The world famous boxer Joe Calzaghe launched the new Bhut Jolokia at the National Army Museum saying:

“I’m really pleased to be helping The Soldiers’ Charity and Sharwood’s launch the Big Curry. It is a great campaign that gets families and friends cooking together to raise funds for an important cause. Our servicemen and women do an amazing job, so I am more than happy to take on the tasty challenge of the Sharwood’s Bhut Jolokia curry sauce…it’s one opponent that might be able to knock me out!”

The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry will receive £15,000 through this cause related marketing initiative, with 10p from every jar sold being donated. In addition to the support through sales of Bhut Jolokia, Sharwood’s have provided large quantities of their products to feed the public at The Soldiers’ Charity Big Curry road shows which were held across the UK between March and May this year.

Emma Harvey, Director National Fundraising and Communications at The Soldiers’ Charity said:

”Curry and the British Army go hand in hand. We’re delighted to be working with Sharwood’s on the Big Curry and the money raised by the sale of the Bhut Jolokia curry sauce will be used to fund grants for serving and former soldiers in need as well as specialist charities that help soldiers and their families, aiding their rehabilitation and long term welfare.”
