Families' Activity Breaks (FAB)
FAB is an initiative designed to support bereaved service families through their most difficult times. Eligible families have children aged up to 19 years old, who have suffered the loss of a loved one who was serving in the Armed Forces.
FAB runs activity-based holidays, providing an adventurous yet safe environment in order to encourage self confidence, resilience and peer support, as well as a welcome break to meet and socialising with others who have experienced a similar loss.
The cost of a FAB holiday to the family, regardless of the size of that family, is £50.
In 2010 ABF The Soldiers’ Charity was able to provide a grant to FAB. This year, around 50 Service families took a FAB holiday in Cornwall and North Yorkshire. Highlights of the holidays included the Red Devils jumping into Whitby Abbey and SSVC providing a documentary crew to allow the children of FAB to conduct their own mini documentary.
