Lance Bombardier Ben Parkinson 7 Para Royal Horse Artillery

Ben Parkinson case study

Ben has been described by medical experts as ‘the most wounded soldier to survive his injuries’, but his determination to recover has humbled and inspired everyone that’s met him.

A landmine explosion in Afghanistan meant he lost both his legs and suffered brain damage that left him unable to speak; something which he has now overcome.

We’ve given a grant to buy a high tech multi gym to allow him the chance to continue his physio at home. Determined Ben trains for at least three hours a day and four years on has managed to stand for the first time since his injury. Read a full interview in the News of the World about Ben’s road to recovery.

Ben and his mother were so overwhelmed with the support we gave that they wrote us a very moving thanks letter, which is well worth a read.
