The walk will start at Wandsworth Bridge at 3pm and finish at Tower Bridge at 7pm

On 29th June a team from Lloyd’s will traverse London from West to East, crossing 14 iconic bridges along the way as part for a fundraising event for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the National Charity of the British Army. The team aims to take four hours for the ten-mile walk, and hope to raise £500 for the Charity in the process.

The event is being led by Trevor Jennings who works at Lloyd’s, who will also be taking part in a 350-mile cycle ride across the frontlines of The Somme battlefield later this year, as part of a charity bike ride called Wheels on the Western Front. Funds raised from both events will go towards helping the many thousands of soldiers, veterans and their families The Soldiers’ Charity assists each year.

Brigadier (Ret’d) Robin Bacon, Chief of Staff at ABF The Soldiers’ Charity says: “Most people cross one or two London bridges every day, but crossing 14 in one go is something not many would think of doing. The team will get to see many London landmarks along the way, it’s certainly one of the city lovers. We are very grateful to Trevor and his team for taking part in this, and the “Wheels” bike ride later this year. The money raised makes a real difference to those in the Army family who may need help.”

Trevor says: “Having participated in the 2014  “Wheels on the Western Front’ event I was keen to get work colleagues involved in raising much needed funds for The Soldiers’ Charity while promoting this year’s cycle ride. Lloyd’s has a long history of involvement with the military services and l will be laying a wreath at both the Menin Gate and Theipval Memorial on behalf of Lloyd’s in recognition of those who lost their lives during the Battle of the Somme.”

The team will be starting at Wandsworth Bridge at 15:00 on finishing at Tower Bridge at 19:00.
