Coldstream Guards on the Move

A hundred soldiers from Number Seven Company, Coldstream Guards today marched into London after a gruelling 425-mile march over 25 days. Much of it through heavy snow.

Congratulations to all involved for this fantastic effort- they have already raised a massive £10,259.29

The march from Coldstream to London marked an episode in English military and political history, following in the footsteps of General George Monck who led an army on the same route during the English Civil War.

General Monck led 6,000 men, part of Oliver Cromwell’s New Model Army, on the march to Parliament 350 years ago.

Throughout much of the march they had a familiar furry companion with them. Baxterbear was right beside the boys (bottom right) doing his bit for The Soldiers’ Charity. Visit our shop to buy a Baxterbear

March organiser Captain Mark Hayhurst commented

“We not only wanted to commemorate this historical and challenging march undertaken by our forebears but also to highlight the current good work of the regiment on operations in Afghanistan.”
