ABF The Soldiers’ Charity will be working with The Army, The Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes in providing assistance to injured soldiers and their families.

We are committed to embedding a Grants Officer within HQ Land forces to advise and deliver individual benevolence quickly and effectively.

Launching the Army Recovery Capability (ARC) scheme at the Ministry of Defence’s Whitehall headquarters, General Sir David Richards said: “I confidently expect that no soldier who thinks it is in his interests to stay will be forced out.”

General Richards added: “Let me be quite clear, no one will leave the Army while they have not reached a point where it is right for them to do so. It is about the doing the right thing for the people and the right thing for the Army.”

Our role will be providing assistance on a case by case basis to ensure that a soldier’s recovery plan can be carried out fully.

This could be anything from a lap top to help with education and courses to helping a young soldiers’ parents pay their mortgage whilst they assist with his recovery. The tie in with our commitment to long term support is clear.

Chief Executive Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter said

“We have been assisting soldiers and their families for 66 years and we’re delighted to be able to extend out knowledge and support to this new scheme.”

“It’s a great example of the Armed Forces and military charities working to do what is best for soldiers and their families.”
