Cheltenham Military Ball raises over £120,000
24 February 2010
Guy Disney, an officer in the Light Dragoons, who lost his lower leg in Afghanistan in 2009, organised a Military Ball in conjunction with Cheltenham Racecourse.
The event was sold out with 1,034 guests attending, and the Guest of Honour was General Sir Richard Dannatt, who gave a speech before an outstanding Grand Auction that included a trip to Afghanistan with Sandy Gall, a day’s shooting at Stowell Park, and a portrait sitting to artist Nicky Philipps (whose portrait of Princes William and Harry hangs in the National Portrait Gallery).
The event has raised over £120,000 for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Light Dragoons Charitable Trust and the Mark Evison Foundation.
