Ideal Homes for Heroes Appeal Launches
22 March 2010
ABF The Soldiers’ Charity staff and volunteers are today down at a grass clad Earls Court in London to mark Troops Day and the launch of The Ideal Homes for Heroes Appeal.
The Appeal was kicked off with a traditional British street party complete with jive dancers and a set by 13 year old singer Olivia Aaron who performed wartime hit White Cliffs Of Dover.
The Royal Signals Band attracted a large crowd outside Earls Court as the Ideal Home Show presented a cheque for £50,000, raised from ticket sales, to our Chief Executive Major General Sir Evelyn Webb-Carter.
Joining Sir Evelyn were Major General Bill Cubitt and some of the people that The Soldiers Charity have helped; Sergeant Gavin Harvey with his wife Kerry and Frances Shine mother of Trooper Stephen Shine
The aim of raising £100,000 is within our sights thanks to the generosity of the public putting money into collection tins whilst browsing the spectacular show and further ticket sales up until the last date on 5 April.
There is still time to attend!
