School raises over £3000 for The Soldiers' Charity
10 May 2010
Children at St George’s School raised a heroic £3000 with their Big Curry fundraiser in aid of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity with the help of the catering troop from 2 Royal Tank Regiment.
The day was a non uniform day with students and staff paying £1 to The Soldiers’ Charity to wear camouflage. Lunch itself was organised by WO2 Gary Scott, father of one of the students, who set up an Army Field Kitchen on the rugby pitch and practised cooking for an armoured regiment by providing lunch for over 800 people.
In the afternoon the Flying Tigers, the parachute display team of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment performed a jaw dropping display for everyone who had gathered. Keswick house raffled a soldier teddy bear to help boost funds at the end of the afternoon.
