Lytham St Annes St Georges Day Festival raised over four times more for charity this year than in 2009. More than £30000 will now be distributed among the three nominated charities, compared with £7000 last year.

ABF The Soldiers Charity will receiving the lion’s share of £15000, with Children’s Hospice Derian House and the Haythornthwaite Sports Foundation both receiving £7500 each.

Accepting a cheque on behalf of ABF The Soldiers Charity, North West Regional Director of Fundraising Lieutenant Colonel Phillip Aindow MBE spoke of his surprise and delight when he heard the final total raised. He said: “It has been a great pleasure supporting the 2nd Lytham St Annes St George’s Day Festival and seeing so many people enjoying themselves over the 3 days. Thanks to the vision and support of local residents, the donation of £15,000 to The Soldiers’ Charity is gratefully received and will be faithfully applied to the needs of the Army Family”

“It’s a magnificent achievement and has surpassed all expectations.”

Festival President David Haythornthwaite was also pleased with the final total. “The magnificent amount raised demonstrates just how much support has grown for the Festival. Planning has already begun for next year as we intend to make it even bigger and better.”
