Baking Hot Runners - Gobi challenge 2010
26 May 2010
In June 2010 Nick Mackaness, Hugh Faith, James Lavers and Charles Dixey will be competing in the Gobi March – a gruelling, 155 mile, six day race through one of the most inhospitable places on the planet, and described by the Sunday Times as “one of the four toughest endurance races in the world”.
This ultra-marathon is set in the Gobi Desert of China, and this year will take place in the Turpan Basin – the hottest place in China, and the second lowest place on Earth, and thus aptly nicknamed “The Oven”.
In temperatures of over 40°C the boys will be racing, on average, 25 miles per day, over rocky terrain, sand dunes and long expanses of flat desert, while carrying 15kg of food, clothing and medical equipment on their backs.
This challenge exemplifies the extreme lengths our dedicated supporters will go to in order to raise money for our charity but if you would like to support their cause then please click here to visit their website.
