Sapper Slog retraces Falklands journey of British forces
1 December 2011
Royal Engineers from the Defence Infrastructure Organisation in the Falkland Islands are setting out on a 75-mile journey to retrace the famous yomp (or march) by British forces in 1982.
Almost exactly 30 years after the Falklands conflict, SSgt Jonathan Law, SSgt Justin Fitzsimmons, SSgt Alex Roche and WO1 Jason Callaghan will be taking the same route from Port San Carlos to Stanley – carrying heavy kit and subject to the changeable weather and terrain – as the original soldiers did. The team will set out on 14 December and hope to return by 16 December.
They are aiming to raise £2,000 for the charity – go to www.justgiving.com/Ex-Sapper-Slog-11 to give the boys your support.
