SPEAR17 with the ABF The Soldiers' Charity flag in Norway

The SPEAR17 team has recently returned from training in Norway. A few days ago, expedition leader Lou Rudd heard the sad news that his friend and fellow Polar explorer Henry Worsley, had died just 30 miles from completing his trek. SPEAR17 – an unsupported Antarctic expedition later this year, was inspired by Henry’s passion for this most remote and inhospitable of places. The team of six are raising money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. They are determined to continue with the expedition, now in Henry’s honour, and are working on plans to mark his last journey when they reach the Pole. Lou described the conditions Henry faced in a piece in the Daily Telegraph.

The Soldiers’ Charity was sad to learn of Henry’s death, and their thoughts are with his wife Joanna, and their two children.
