Leslie Binns is an ex-serviceman with a military career spanning over 13 years with the Light Dragoons.
Les suffered a life-changing injury when he was blinded in his left eye whilst operating in Helmand Province.
An Afghan soldier stepped on an IED and Les was caught in the blast and injured by shrapnel in the face, arm and legs.He was medically discharged from the Army in 2010.
In 2015, Les needed a fresh challenge and decided to attempt to climb Mount Everest.
He was 500 meters from the summit when he helped a stricken Indian climber who was sliding out of control.
On the way down he attempted to rescue a second climber who later collapsed and died.
Les made a second attempt to get to the summit in May 2017 to fulfill his dream, but was unfortunately forced back by close weather close to the summit.
Join us to hear Les’ amazing story.
