The Falklands Veterans Foundation, the first UK based charity for Falklands Veterans and their immediate families, have been given a grant from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity to help with the annual running and maintenance costs of Liberty Lodge.
Liberty Lodge is a residence in the Falklands Islands where veterans and their families can stay when visiting the island. In 2016 more than 200 visitors stayed at the Lodge, and with 2017 being the 35th anniversary of the conflict, many more are expected to stay this year.
Derek ‘Smokey’ Cole, Chief Executive, Falklands Veterans Foundation commented: “The Falklands Veterans Foundation are extremely appreciative to receive a grant from ABF The Soldiers’ Charity which assists the FVF. The grant will help in continuing to provide a peaceful and tranquil facility in the Falkland Islands for Veterans wishing to make the long journey South to pay respects to those still on patrol since 1982. Their support is invaluable to the continuing success of the FVF and Liberty Lodge.”
