SPEAR17 at the South Pole
SPEAR17 proudly display our flag at the bottom of the world.

We were delighted to see that our intrepid Antarctica team arrived at the South Pole on Christmas Day! What a way to celebrate the festive season!

They worked incredibly hard to make it in just a few hours under 40 days. The team battled frostbite, blisters, tendinitis and a mystery sickness bug to reach their goal. They proudly displayed the Soldiers’ Charity flag at the bottom of the world!

Unfortunately, Alun George flew back to England at the South Pole, after a medical assessment showed he was too weak to continue. The remaining five members of the team are now well into the second leg of the journey – 400 miles across the Titan Dome and down the Shackleton Glacier – as a tribute to fellow Polar adventurer Henry Worsley, who sadly lost his life a year ago attempting a solo crossing of the continent.

The team are hoping to raise £100,000 for our Charity, and you can donate here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/spear17
